Sherief Lamont Mitchell

With a spirit as expansive as the sky, Sherief Lamont Mitchell, known fondly by his loved ones as Chance, Goldy Haze, Montelly, Light Bright, Peanut, and Banana Split, lived life with an adventurous zest and a charismatic sparkle. Born on October 21, 1986, in Columbus, Ohio, Sherief was a luminary in his own right, his resilience shining through in every endeavor he undertook. The great Maya Angelou once said, "I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it," a sentiment that Sherief encapsulated in his life with his unyielding spirit and infectious humor.

Sherief was a beloved handyman, a 'jack of all trades' who lent his skillful hands to help others. His work was a testament to his character, illustrating his dedication, resilience, and the ability to find joy in every task. He was a man of many hobbies, adventurous and always on the move. He enjoyed good food, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family, which he held dear. Sherief's love for his family and his faith in God were the cornerstones of his life, the sources from which he derived his strength. He was a loving father to Skyler, Jonelle, and Lamiyah, and a cherished brother to Sanceria, Shazoph, William, and Thomas Jr.

Sherief's life was a beautiful testament to the power of resilience and love. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Saunders, his mother, Kimberley Mitchell, and his grandparents, Dorothy Mitchell Reverend William Mitchell, Paulette Turner. Yet, his legacy continues to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. The memory of his laughter, his spirit, and his love will forever remain a guiding light for his family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00pm EDT at Evergreen Funeral Service & Reception, 1855 E 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. This will be followed by a celebration of Sherief's life at 3:00pm EDT at the same location.
